It’s a session designed to be relaxed while producing timeless, beautifully cohesive images.

Before your session, I assist with wardrobe and styling to ensure everything works together and photographs well. Planning removes the guesswork out of what to wear and helps ensure your images still feel classic years from now.

During the session itself, things stay easy. I’ll guide you gently, keep things moving, and occasionally say something a little silly to elicit genuine smiles and natural connection.

The goal is polished images without stiff energy: fine art, but human.

To reserve your day and time, your session fee is due at the time of booking.

The session fee includes your custom portrait session with Scott, complimentary consultation over wardrobe ideas, and designing artist samples for your in-person ordering appointment.

Payments may be done through cash, check, card, or Venmo.

I am based in Deer Park, Texas, but I work in a studio on the edge of downtown Houston in EADO.  Most clients have me work on-location so you could say that my studio can be wherever you need it to be. Whether in my private studio, in the great outdoors, at your home or work, or in a special locale, location plays a large part in the story you want to portray. Many of my clients prefer to begin at the studio for several portraits, then we go on to a second location.

When we do the consultation session, we will discuss if we are going to be in the studio, on location, or a mixture of the two.  For outdoor portraits, I highly recommend either mornings or evenings as the light is best then.  Mid-day can be challenging but very doable with a location that has plenty of open shade.

Houston has a wide variety of great photogenic areas; keep in mind that some areas require a permit, which is included in your session fee.

Of course, how many people may be involved and, in the case of personal portraits, if any family pets are included will be an influence on your location.

Wear what you are comfortable in and, by all means, what best represents you. In general, I recommend that clients choose one or two base colors and add one to three solid colors.  Most prefer a mix of monochromatic and jewel tones. Bold patterns and designs tend to be busy and distracting. You want people to see you first, not the striped dress or the logo brand on a shirt. Typically, clients bring three to eight wardrobe changes for their session. We’ll discuss all this in your complimentary consultation session.

For portrait sessions, usually, about three days after the session, we view your images on your TV or a laptop. This is the awesome part when you get to kick back and watch a slideshow of your best images.

Bring along anybody who might have a part in the decision-making process with you since this is when you will decide which images will be printed and what artwork you would like to order. At the end of your ordering session, you pay the first half of your balance. You can pay the other half when I deliver the finished order to you.

Turnaround time is usually 6-16 weeks, depending on which type of artwork was purchased.

All ordered images are professionally retouched before being presented to my clients. Skin, stray hairs, and blemishes are retouched, but I also want you to look like you. Of course, if something like an exit sign or power lines were unavoidable, those will be removed.

All finished artwork includes a digital copy of ordered images, whether that is wall art, an album, or a folio collection.

Digital bundles of your portraits are available for purchase separately from artwork.
