Not sure where to start?
The first step is simply a conversation. Tell me a little about what you're hoping for, and I'll help you figure out the rest.
Before You Book
How far in advance should I schedule?
Most families book several weeks in advance, especially during the fall. If you have a specific date in mind, it's always best to reach out early.
Where do sessions take place?
Most sessions are photographed on location around Houston, Galveston, League City, Clear Lake, Baytown, and surrounding communities. I also have a studio near downtown Houston for select portrait sessions and headshots.
We haven't had family photos in years. Is that a problem?
Not at all. Most of the families I photograph aren't in front of a camera regularly. My job is to guide you through the process so it feels relaxed and natural from start to finish.
Planning Your Session
What should we wear?
After booking, I'll help you coordinate clothing choices so everyone looks great together without appearing overly matched.
What if my kids won't cooperate?
They're kids. That's part of the job description.
I've photographed toddlers, teenagers, and everything in between. The goal isn't perfect behavior. The goal is to create genuine moments and expressions while keeping the experience enjoyable for everyone.
What if my spouse doesn't want family photos?
They may have more company than they realize.
Many people come into a session expecting it to be awkward and leave surprised by how easy it felt. My approach is relaxed, conversational, and focused on connection rather than stiff posing.
During The Session
How long does a session take?
Most family sessions last about an hour, though timing varies depending on the location, number of people, and goals for the session.
Do you pose us?
Yes, but probably not the way you're imagining.
I'll guide you into flattering positions and then help create natural interaction so your portraits feel genuine rather than overly posed.
What happens if the weather doesn't cooperate?
This is Houston. Sometimes the forecast is more of a suggestion than a prediction. If the weather doesn't cooperate, we'll pivot to a backup location, the studio, or another date if that's the best solution.
After Your Session
How do we choose our images?
I'll guide you through selecting your favorite portraits and help you decide what works best for your home, office, or family goals.
Do you offer printed artwork?
Absolutely. Most clients choose wall art, albums, or custom artwork for their home. I'll help you select pieces that fit your space and style so your portraits become part of your everyday life rather than another folder on a device.
Do you provide digital images?
Yes. Digital files are included with wall art and album collections. A digital collection is also available for families who prefer that option.
Is This the Right Fit?
Who do you work with?
Busy families, professionals, and high school seniors who want a guided portrait experience and images that feel authentic to who they are.
Are you the least expensive photographer in Houston?
No.
If price is the only deciding factor, there are plenty of talented photographers who may be a better fit.
If you're looking for a personalized experience, guidance throughout the process, and portraits designed to be enjoyed for years, I'd love to talk with you.
What makes Bayou City Photography different?
Photography is only part of what I do.
I help families and professionals navigate the entire process, from planning locations and wardrobe to selecting portraits you'll still love years from now. My goal is simple: create great portraits without making your life more complicated.
