Every year in August, the Lakewood Church of Christ runs a Back-To-School clothing drive for local families. School age clothing is donate by members and others in the community. Breakfast is served beforehand, tickets are given on a first come, first served basis, and about 175+ families are provided for, which means about 600-1000 people come through there in a matter of hours. They maintain the clothing room year-round and work with local schools, but this is how the whole project started.
One thing that has to be new is socks and underwear. I mean, really, who wants those used anyway?
They also have an extreme need for jeans in sizes for teens.
So, for all sessions booked in the months of May, June, and July, I'm wanting to help them out and I hope that you do, also.
The first way to help is to donate two items for the clothing drive and your session fee is reduced from $150 to $45. The two items don't have be the same and I'd recommend a package of socks and package of underwear. A pair of jeans in teen sizes would be great because we know how rough kids can be on jeans and they don't last long enough to be donated. Just pick two.
The second way to help is through ordering products. Twenty percent of all purchases from those sessions will go directly to the clothing room fund for whatever they need. So you'll be helping out a great cause twice!
This applies to any portrait session, whether it's for professional use, family, a 2018 senior, or just because.
Please share this on any social media you are on. I'll have it on Twitter and Facebook, so help me spread the word and support a great work!
